Alta Vista Home & Garden is the culmination of 10 years working in the forest and with communities. Alta Vista Home & Garden is owned and operated by Nick Slobodian. Nick has worked for over 10 years as a Permaculture Designer, Builder, Forester, Sawyer, and Agroforestry Specialist.

After 8 years learning woodworking and forest management in Santa Cruz, California, Nick moved to Ecuador to direct a Forest Conservation Non-profit on the Pacific Coast. After a few years expanding the organization’s sustainable forestry operation and community development programs, Nick set off to bridge the gap between the way we source the products we consume and the communities that produce them. Nick’s vision is to build a sustainable forest products business that fosters growth not only in the forest but also in the communities that live within them.

Alta Vista Home & Garden takes pride in sourcing and manufacturing quality furnishings for any home or garden. Our collection of products tells the story from which each of our woods comes from. Our products are made with materials that are sourced sustainably and are manufactured using community-based artisanal craftsmanship to support the local economies in which our products are born.
